When The Restrainer Is Removed

“Now as he sat on the Mount of Olives,
the disciples came to him privately, saying,
‘Tell us, when will these things be,
and what will be the sign of your coming,
and of the end of the age?’
And Jesus answered and said to them:
‘Take heed that no one deceives you…'”
Matthew 24:2-3

Jesus gave many signs to watch for which would signal the end of the age. They are well known -wars, rumors of war, earthquakes, famines, pestilence (diseases). In every generation there has been its great war, or great famine, or great earthquake, or great epidemic. But that which characterizes the onset of the “last days” is that all of these will be happening together. There has never been a generation like this one, in which truly we are seeing all of these things.

The other, the greatest sign without which the “last days” couldn’t have taken place, is the rebirth of the nation of Israel, which has taken place in this generation. Israel is the pivotal element in the story. It all centers around Jerusalem. And isn’t Jerusalem in our newspapers daily! Amazing! Prophecies thousands of years old coming to pass before our very eyes!

But what was the very first sign Jesus mentioned?

It was deception. “Take heed that no one deceives you.” And sure enough, this is the age of deception, of apostasy, of corruption. The whole world is coming under the prophesied delusion:

“…and with all unrighteous DECEPTION among those who perish,
because they did not receive the love of the truth,
that they might be saved. And for this reason
God will send them STRONG DELUSION,
that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned
who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

Notice here that it is GOD who sends strong delusion upon them – because they did not want the truth, they wanted the pleasure of unrighteousness.

God is merciful and long-suffering, holding out his offer of salvation for as long as possible, but there comes a point where that time will come to an end. There has never been apostasy as we see happening now.

For those who understand and are watching, the degradation, the downward spiral is absolutely appalling. Who ever would have thought that the things taking place could ever have taken place in their wildest dreams? There is no sin so terrible that they would reject it. Lawlessness.

It’s bad enough in the world, what’s the most horrendous is the degree of apostasy in the so-called “church.” They have stooped to the lowest levels of insult to God. Taking his rainbow, a sign of covenant that he put in the sky, and they’ve made it the sign of basest debauchery – EVEN IN THE CHURCH! The Pope, the leader of the largest “Christian” denomination on earth says that anyone who’s sincere will go to heaven, even atheists. If that’s true Mr. Pope, then the crucifixion was unnecessary. If there’s any way to the Father other than through the atonement made in the Son, then the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was unnecessary. He did if for nothing. He could have skipped it. In fact, the Pope said that Jesus’s life ended in failure, “the failure of the Cross.” Such heresy coming from the leader of the largest denomination on earth!

But the world laps it up because God has taken all who do not have a love for the truth and has placed them under the strong delusion, “that they all may be condemned.” If there is one thing that will lead a man to hell, it’s refusing the truth of the Word of God -or worse, twisting the Word of God to justify sin. And this is happening now in churches everywhere.

It grieves the heart of the believer to stand by and watch this happening. Believers fight against it desperately struggling to hold it back, but we’ve come to a place in the story where it can no longer be held back, and soon the restraining force of the true church of Jesus Christ is going to be removed in what is called “the Rapture.”

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work,
only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way;
and then the lawless one (the Antichrist) will be revealed…”
2 Thessalonians 2:7-8

The one restraining is the Body of Christ, his true church that has remained faithful and that has restrained lawlessness up until now, but as soon as they have been removed, lawlessness will have no restraint and all hell will break loose on this earth. The Antichrist will be revealed and he will take the world into “the great Tribulation.”

Friends, there is still time for you to be counted among those whom Christ will come for. And it’s all going to depend upon you. You -whether you have love for truth and are willing to surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ and honor his Word -or whether you reject truth and take pleasure in unrighteousness. It’s up to you.
